Subject: Great Firefox Extensions
For those of you who use Firefox, what extensions do you use and recommend and why?

This is my current list of essential extensions:

Adblock Plus (A great defense against very annoying and distracting ads)

StumbleUpon (good way to find new sites and random pages of wisdom, or otherwise)

Nuke Anthing (Really useful for printing without all types of info and graphics not needed or wanted on the printed page)

Google Toolbar (Have been using it since Scifience recommended it for it's spell-checking feature. Has some other nice features as well.

IE Tab. Fantastic for those who still have to use IE for corporate intranet sites.

I mainly use FF for testing sites and web apps I develop, so majority of my extensions are geared toward developers:

DOM Inspector
Forecastfox
AutoCopy
AdBlock
WebDeveloper
User Agent
JavaScript Debugger
Cache Status
FireBug
MeasureIt
Screen Grab
Rendered Source Chart
HTML Validator
LoremIpsum Content Generator

And I just installed StumbleUpon.

it's more like "as gaeilglish" - a strange [and often seemingly random] mixture of irish and english.  methinks the OS disnae handle too well these unofficial localisations.  either that, or the translator got bored halfway through!  :hmm:

interesting find!

i've got quite a few web developer extensions installed already, so i didnae bother with any more, but the following grabbed my eye:

tab mix plus lets you take tabbed browsing to a new level by adding dozens of configurable features. For example, you can add close buttons or a page-loading progress bar to each tab, reopen tabs you've accidentally closed, and automatically save all your tabs when you quit (and then restore them at your next launch).

copy URL+ Copying a Web page can be cumbersome. First you have to copy and paste the URL; then you have to go back and grab the page's title and text. Copy URL+ can save frequent Internet note takers a lot of hassle. This extension copies a page's URL, along with its title, text that you've selected, or both–all with a single command. Just highlight the text you want, control-click on it, and go to Copy URL+ to choose the elements you want to copy.

screen grab! a handy extension that lets you snap a picture of an entire Web page, no matter how long it is. Control-click on a page and select Screen Grab from the contextual menu. In the submenu, choose whether you want the whole page or just the part you can currently see.

if they prove worth of comment, i'll report back after i've used them for a bit.

well, so far i'm liking this one.  lots of configuration options [tho' unfortunately no tooltips to tell you what some of the more 'unguessable' ones actually do  :stick: ].

i've gone for individual close widgets on each tab [yay! - one of my major gripes about FF's tab implementation overcome  ], tabs able to display narrower than standard size, if their title is short [good space saver!  ] and progress bars to indicate loading status of each tab.

i've yet to put the alleged ability to recover accidentally closed tabs and restore tabs after a crash to the test.

here's a new one, i've recently discovered:

link alert - enhances the cursor when you roll over a link, to let you see what the link is er... "linking" to.

[it disnae work all of the time but is quite nice looking when it does!]
