Subject: f**king typical!

i go away for the weekend and when i come back i find that the appletalker server has crashed and burned. apologies to anyone who's lost their appletalker fix over the past couple of days. normal service [as you can see] has hopefully now been resumed! :crossed:

[why does a server run flawlessly for about six months and then decide to crash the minute i leave the house for the weekend? :brick:

Subject: what's in a name?

the beady-eyed amongst you will have noticed that [as of about ten minutes ago :grin:

] this forum now resides at 'appletalker.net' as opposed to 'appletalker.com' - although appletalker.com should still forward to the new domain.

why? - well, all the other websites i've set up are on '.net' domains rather than '.com'. i've always preferred '.net' as a suffix; "it's a site. it's on the net. it's somesite.net". for me '.com' has always smacked of corporatism and moneygrabbing - plus i dinnae even like the sound of the word - 'com' sounds a bit too much like 'con' to me. which is quite apt i s'pose for yer average multinational corporation :grin:

anyway, there you have it folks - although appletalker.com will still work, we are now officially appletalker.net :grin:

sorry folks - due to another outbreak of spammers [the dingleberries on the arsehole of the internet! :mad:

] all new registrations will have to be manually approved again for the forseeable future. from time to time, this will obviously cause a bit of a delay between registering and having your account activated - but i gotta sleep occasionally! :grin:
